The obvious place for First Aid

Fire Safety, Escape Routes, Emergency Exit Signs

The requirement for safety signs will form part of the Fire Safety Risk Assessment which is a legal requirement. Although the provision for fire safety signs is under fire safety legislation, the health and safety regulations specify the types of signs that must be used.

Signs that show the location and type of fire fighting equipment are always shown in red.

Signs that show fire doors, emergency exits and escape routes must be in green.

Emergency exit signage should be fixed above the exit door, where practicable, or in a suitable location where it is easy to see. There should also be sufficient signage leading to an escape route to instruct a person where to go. Incorrect signage could lead to confusion in an evacuation situation which could result in serious delays for staff and visitors.
